#23: 1998 - Galactic Cannonball & Aerosmith Sings for Affleck

Nerd Cred 23: Sponsored by Real Player. Actually we can’t back that up.  But you should probably download the latest update for Real Player regardless.

This week we are looking at 1998 – a year in which Hollywood managed to make two of the same movie – multiple times, Aaron Sorkin kicks off his walking and talking television style, the best 3D zelda game came out, a cardboard box became stealth and entirely too much for any pop culture aware individuals to cram in to an hour.  We also talk 2015 and fancy speakers and playing soccer with a rocket powered car.  Neat.

Nerd Cred 22: Back on a semi regular schedule. We are back and ready to scratch your nostalgia itch.  That’s the only thing that is free though, the rest costs extra.

This week we look to 1997, a year with not one, but two incredible Nicholas Cage movies, and a whole lot of classic 64 games (no Oddjob allowed).  We also talk about practical vs digital effects, and the rest of the latest news/current obsessions.  #checkit #loveit

This week we try to break down all that was 1996. There was so much – we attempt to describe much of it in a few words – with varying success.  We also go over our latest app obsessions – and attempt to catch up on 6+ months of nerd-ish news.  Good times to be had by all.

#20: 1995 - Bat Nipples

Nerd Cred 20: Back from the dead/laziness.  This week's episode is long overdue.  For that we are kinda, sorta, somewhat sorry.  That being said – the hiatus allowed for a lot of nerd to happen.

Another Kingdom Rush game is out, a new Star Wars trailer was released and more video games than can be imagined.  Our yearly retrospective glances back to 1995, a year in which the last good Die Hard movie came out, computer animated movies began to take over and the 16 bit era was in full swing – with the doubled bit generation starting to show up as well.  Listen it, love it, share it.

#19: E3 2014!

#19: E3 2014!

Nerd Cred turned 19 and checked out all the happenings of E3.

This week we stay firmly in 2014 and discuss all that Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and others showed at the annual E3 convention. This included more Halo, Batman, Zelda, and many many more that will be on sale mere weeks after coming out.

For our current nerding we talk about a PS2 classic about hunting giants and Mario Golf.  Bowser cheats.  Just saying.

#18: 1994 - Royale with Cheese

Nerd Cred turns 18!

And... promptly kicked out of the house. This weeks episode has us taking a look at a popular board game turned app, a book about ultra marathons, and a ton of news about Ninja Turtles, Star Wars and Apple

Our year by year retrospective turns to 1994 – a year that brought us Arnold in a Harrier jet, Morgan Freeman in prison – but soon forever on TNT, the two best Jim Carrey movies and some pretty great music.  Listen in, reminisce, and curse us for forgetting something important about this year.

#17: 1993 - Bobsled Team

Nerd Cred returns to its regularly scheduled format. We kick it all off with a look at a puzzle game inspired by MC Escher’s work and an app that will make it very easy to keep ,essentially anything on the web, and save it so you can read it later.

That being said, we spend the majority of this episode talking about the year that was 1993, a year that includes: dinosaurs, bobsleds, archers, a one armed man, Michael Jackson songs in movies about freeing whales, James Earl Jones and a giant dog, and Robin Williams dressed as an elderly woman.  That’s just the movies.  1993 was a good year.  Listen and reminisce… now.

Nerd Cred from the future! Err, maybe just the present.

This week's show was intended to be all about the year known as 1993 – discussing the plethora of movies, games, tv shows and more to scratch that nostalgia itch… but instead we find ourselves stuck solely in 2014.

The future is great though!  Listen in as we go over a variety of current obsessions, review responses and other stuff!

Nerd Cred is here to delight your ear holes.

In this week's episode we are headed back to 1992.  This weeks show kicks off with our hands on experience with the Xbox One (some repairs required), Double Fine’s Kickstarted, record-breaking Broken Age, AND an app that somehow makes your phone even more efficient.

After that it’s 1992 time.  The year that included but was not limited to: Wayne’s World, Super Mario Kart, The Mighty Ducks, Alien 3, and Mortal Kombat (the K makes it more hardcore).

#14: 1991 - Rufio!

Nerd Cred is back with a new episode.

This week we look back at 1991 and try to keep nostalgia from clouding our judgment.  We kick it off with a quick recap of some current news/nerding – taking a look at a device that will keep your phone powered – thus allowing you to further avoid conversation AND discuss Drew’s experience with a brand new Gameboy – his first since a Gameboy Color.

After that we  move into 1991 and talk about a plethora of movies and TV shows like The Rocketeer, Are You Afraid of The Dark?, Hook, Carmen Sandiego and more.  Good luck not getting the Carmen Sandiego theme stuck in your head after this one.

#13: 1990 - Scissors for Hands

1990! Nerd Cred survived the 80s – can our luck last with this decade?

This week we debate the quality/necessity of remakes, try to talk about an epic post apocalyptic novel trilogy with spoiling anything, realize we remember more about Mario 3 than past education, give a thumbs up to another creepy Tim Burton flick, and spend a lot of time talking about the epic known as Total Recall.  Listen and love it.  Don’t breathe it.

#12: 1989 - Power Glove

#12: 1989 - Power Glove

1989! The year where there is entirely too much pop culture for us to try and cover in one hour.

Caleb is back! Frank is still here! We skip current needing this week so we have enough time to talk about the last “real” Indy movie.

We also dive into Ghostbusters 2, Michael Keaton as Batman AND the power glove. It’s so bad. Listen. Now.

#11: 1988 - Jessica Rabbit

#11: 1988 - Jessica Rabbit

1988! Guest hosted by Frank!

This is the episode where we finally fulfill everyone’s wishes and talk about Willow.  Woohoo?

We also discuss the awesomeness of Michael Keaton in Beetlejuice AND who really did frame Roger Rabbit.

All in all – its an hour filled with a lot of nerd-stalgia.

#10: 1987 - Sewer Pizza

#10: 1987 - Sewer Pizza

We talk The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon in this episode.  That should be reason enough to listen right away.

If one of the best 80s cartoons/one of the best cartoon ever doesn’t do it for you nostalgia-wise…..

We also look back at the debut of the Tanner family, Duckhunt, Predators, and Ducktales…woo ooo.

#9: 1986 - The Need for Speed

We now return to our normal programming.  This week we head back to 1986 which had Tom Cruise playing beach volleyball and fighting….someone.

We kick things off with a look at an amazing/depressing/still amazing/but kind of a downer post apocalyptic game.

After that, we struggle to fit in the sheer amount of pop culture from 1986 and wonder if it truly is possible to do all that Ferris did in one day.

We lied, no 1986 this week.  Instead a special episode where we talk our adventures at the 2013 Penny Arcade Expo.

Join us as we talk about our experiences checking out the PS4, Xbox One, Occulus Rift, and random cosplayers.

Seattle was invaded by nerds and the next generation of gaming and we braved the masses (and occasional unknown smells).  Check out our brief “highlight” video of our time.

#7: 1985 - 1.21 Gigawatts

A time travel heavy episode this week as we discuss 1985 and its highlights including Back to the Future, Breakfast Club, and Thundercats.  Also Macgyver.

Our current nerding for this week includes Netflix’s latest original series and a podcast that has nothing to do with being invisible.

After that, it's all about 1985 and figuring out if we actually learned anything from The Oregon Trail.

#6: 1984 - Don't Get Them Wet

A special episode this week as we are joined by fellow nerd Frank Hoffman – Together we talk about Ghostbusters, ridiculous Gremlin rules, and… Harrison Ford.

Our current nerding for this week includes comics (oddly for the first time on the show), more Kingdom Rush, and a retro-esque PC heist game.

After that we dive in to the year that was 1984.  The year that included a lot of memorable movies AND a lot of violence in PG movies.  Good times.

#5: 1983 - Jedi Patricide

This week – we conclude our discussions about Star Wars (for now) with Return of the Jedi AND other high/low lights of 1983.

Our current nerding for this week include a highly addicting iPad/iPhone game and the Kevin Spacey Netflix series House of Cards

Stay tuned after that for the rest of 1983 which included maybe the best TV theme song ever from the “classic” A-Team.

#4: Phone Home

#4: Phone Home

In this week’s episode we talk mainly about the birth of Drew – but also partially about the year 1982 and its other minor happenings.

Among our discussion – we talk about possibly the worst video-game of all time and an actor that may have shown up in the two previous episodes.

For our current nerding: a way to analyze your sleep (and possibly not wake up like a demon) as well as dinosaurs (and the crushing of our childhood dreams of being paleontologists).
